Are the Magna and SS Belt Sanders the same?

I have a Shopsmith belt sander that I want to rebuild. Since I'm restoring a greenie I would much rather find an early Magna one to match my jigsaw, or at the least one that I can scavange the frames and trunnion to make a "Franken-Magna"

. I've read that SS used the Magna castings up until they wore out, but were there any changes to these that would not allow an interchange?
The one I have now I got for cheap because it has tracking issues, which was bad enough that it ate away at the frames (through the sacrificial clips

), so even if I use it for parts or trade for an older one I don't have much in it to cry over. I know the bearings are shot and one of the spring clips is broken that sits in the bearing pocket (both on order).
Do I have to worry about parts not matching on these?
Thanks for the input,
Jeff

I would defer to Shopsmith as I have had both new and old apart but never side by side. However, my gut reaction is that parts should be compatible.

Ditto Ditto:)
The logo's different:D
Is the belt damage to the sides so severe as to prevent new clips from securing?

No, they should clip in. I believe it is definitely rebuildable, but I would like to give it the period correct look with the Magna labled frame and medallion.

Good!

Practice with that one, sell it, and buy a Magna version, then rebuild it!;)
P.S. Just do not 'list' it if mine is already 'listed'!:D
