Are parts still available for 500 U/L blade guards?

I have a Mark V 500 with the old style upper and lower blade guards. Two parts are missing and it doesn't look like SS still sells these (only a complete upgrade kit, which is costly!).

The parts I need are the aluminum bracket that mounts the lower guard to the SS (part #507183-extension bracket) and the wire lead-in shoe on the front end of the upper guard (part #504632).

Looks like I may need to buy the complete U/L guard system (only about $10-20 on Ebay). Anyone know where I might find these 2 pieces?

Thanks!

It's probably easiest to just get the guards on ebay at the prices they're going for.

I wish the upgrade prices were lower!

Thanks,Tom.

Occasionally the upgrade to the new plastic guard also shows up on Ebay. But lately, not necessarily at a good price. If you go this way, you will just have to be patient.

Hi,

I'd go for the newer plastic guard. Never fell in love with the metal one and had a tendency to not use it, when I upgraded I was much happier.

Just my opinion as someone who has been there and done that.

I'd much prefer the newer guard, but the prices lately on Ebay have been really high! Maybe a deal will come along. The lower guard will,of course, work fine as is.

I may consider a diy overhead shield. I've seen some really good ones in the past in Fine woodworking, etc.

Thanks,
Fred
