I wanted to improve my ability to create and do home repairs. 1 year in first owned home. Limited tool cache.
Obvious choice: SS mark 5 with all the add ons...

I found one on craigslist with bandsaw, jointer, shaper, disc/drum and belt sanders, jigsaw, lathe... extra saw blades, bits, arbors and manuals + a few homemade jigs.

A lot of research and elbow grease got it humming, smooth and waxed slippy on all surfaces.

So, I decide to swap out the old craftsman 10" carbide combo super fetty kerf blade for a new high tech blade: CMT Orange Tools ITK Plus combination blade: super thin kerf, nearly silent on the cut.
- dead on square! Just swaped blade and measure for accuracy( for those who question the value of the mark 5, the serial number from this unit is 1954.)

I noticed a newer(NOS- in package) 5/8" universal blade arbor and several older blades with 1 1/4" blade arbors still on. I decided to upgrade to the newer arbor because it was like new, without rust/pitting and had a beefier profile. Easy swap, looks and performs great.
So I head back to the parts box to investigate the old blades and arbors, disassemble, clean and assess serviceablility. PROBLEM... I did not have a wrench(s) large enough to remove the arbor nut. I know it is essential to use the right tool for the job, but can anyone guess how I removed these rusty nuts with out wrenches? pics posted soon.

C-clamp or something stouter with adjustable jaws.

Prudence suggests adding a 7/8" and a 1 1/2" open wrench to yer tool box.

Sorry for the delay....

I simply unscrewed it with a rag, by hand.

after a quick squirt of PB Blaster and a few minutes to soak in, I tapped lightly with a hammer as I turned the nut by hand, essentially creating an impact wrench.
