Is there a big difference between the Shopsmith 6" belt sander and the Magna belt sander ?

Generally, there is no major difference. The newer Shopsmith belt sander has the larger dust collection port.

I remember seeing on the sawdust session where Nick disassembles and repairs the 6" belt sander that at some point they switched from a crowned drive cylinder to a flat one...dont recall if he said when
