I am trying to make celtic knot pens. I am ordering some veneer. Can you tell me what the size of the standard SS saw blade (came on the SS 510)? I know it might take a couple pieces stacked up, but this will give me a general idea.

It should be close to 1/8".

Like JPG says, the kerf is about 1/8" wide. But in making the Celtic knots, you need to exactly match the kerf size with the filler material (veneer, plastic, etc) you're using in order to get the geometry of the knot perfect. Your best bet is to take the saw blade you'll be using and make a partial cut (like a dado cut) in a piece of 2x4 and then measure the width of the kerf.

This makes complete sense. Every blade and every quill has a bit of run out. That run out, whatever it is, will exhibit itself in the width of the kerf.
