Proper Etiquette for Want to Buy or Sell Shopsmith Specific

Post by mtobey »

Many forums have a section for the above. I don't see one here. On WoodNet there is a Buy/Sell Sub-Topic- however, the Handtools section has been permitted to Buy, Sell, Swap within that section. Volume is not as high as the dedicated Topic, and we Neanderthals(aka Galoots) are considered a bit"tech'd" in the head anyway and the folks are quite close knit.

Is there a place for such things here? There is always the on-line auctions/Craig's List, but many of the handtools on that forum are sold for sharing and less for outright profit. In fact, we often give each other parts and the like, and sometimes band together to assemble a nucleus of tools for an interested youngster of less than relaxed means.

I am so new here that I may not have recognized all of the scenery. I was fortunate in the last couple of days to buy some SS files for my jigsaw. I need as many as I can reasonably find for infill plane construction( they can only go to Boggs so many times). The wedge file knives are ideal for cutting dovetails in brass, bronze and mild steel. But, in the lot, I also got two sets of mortiser conical stones. I hand cut mortises, or if Neanderthals aren't looking, I use a router. And, I have a Delta DP mortiser to boot; companion tenon jig as well. I usually hand saw smaller tenons or dado blade them.

Please advise protocol. Best regards,mt

We do not allow this forum to be used to buying or selling of Shopsmith tools between members simply because we would be competing with ourselves if we let that happen.

It wouldnt make much sense if we encouraged our customers to buy from sources other than Shopsmith, that would definately be a bad business decision.

If we allowed other manufacturers tools to be sold here it would also be a conflict of interest because this forum represents Shopsmith, Inc.
