need to make a tempory flagpole stand for 4th of July picnic.
question is, a piece of plywood for a base , a 2 foot 4x4 upright
to set pole in.
The big question is, the braces. Does it make any difference as
to how high on the upright board the braces are fastened??
what i marked as the pivot point on the bottom i would not think the
position of braces would make any difference. I know some of the
engineer people should have a answer.
the thought would be to put sandbags on the plywood to prevent
it from blowing over...... thanks

The short answer is no. Your braces just keep the plywood from seperating from the pole. Matters not how high you put them. It will be the sandbags that keep it from blowing over. IMHO, a couple of 50 lb sacks should be sufficient with light to moderate wind.

Tim is right on!! As usual! Sandbags will work to hold the pole upright depending on the size of flag and speed of wind. Needs at least three braces.
how it turned out

trailer hitch that is 2 inch.
