I live in Mobile Alabama and was wondering if there was anyone in the nearby area that works with the shop smith. I called SS and they said they no longer offer the Traveling Academy due to the economy.

I don't know if there is anyone near you, but this forum has been known to solve a problem or two. Maybe we can help.

Well I bought a 1983 SS and it has the large table. Owners manual not to be found. I have a lot of parts but it seems nothing is complete. I have a router sheild and no router attachment. I have the upper and lower saw guard and arbors. No idea how to mount or operate. I have the bandsaw(could use new wheel rubbers) but no coupler. I have the lathe duplicator but not the holder for the duplicated piece. I don't have the lathe drive center or tail holder. Live or dead. Some of the stuff I will take pictures of and post for help this weekend. I am not even sure how to operate this machine well. I am new to woodworking all together. I'm sure the owners manual would help a lot.

Thanks for all of the help. Can I by pieces to a lathe duplicator? I have the piece that holds the cutter but not the top bar for the duplicated piece?

The link under lathe duplicator maintenance is incorrect. Admin has been made aware.
By the time you try it
tomorrow, it may be fixed.

Is there anywhere to buy SS accessories or attachments besides SS? Just wondering and also what about the quality?

The book "Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone" by R.J. DeCristoforo seems to be the Shopsmith bible. I just got mine in the mail and it has tips, tricks, and maintenence information for every piece of equiptment available for the Mark V. If you do not have a manual this is a great reference book. Can be found used on the internet for $4.00 to $20.00. The one I just got looks brand new, but I only paid $4.85 plus shipping.

Is this the same book that is offered electronically at shopsmith?
