Back in March of 2011, I purchased a Shopsmith 510. I have been so busy that I did not have time until last evening to check it out. With just a little persuasion, the unit took off. I know that it does need a good cleaning and lubrication, but what baffles me is that the quill feed lever has been placed on the back side of the powerhead. Is that bad news or how can I change it to its correct position. Thank you so much.:o

By unscrewing the lever, it can be removed from the quill feed shaft.

The feed lever fits on either end of the quill feed shaft(front or rear of headstock). Notice there are three indentations in the quill feed shaft(both ends). The lever screws into one of those indentations so as to locate it per yer need.

'Correct' position is wherever you need it at any given time.;)

Thank you so much. Just one more question. The unit that I am now the proud owner of also came with the extention tables and rails. Where do I find instructions on how to correctly assemble them to the machine; the manual that came with my 510 doesn't offer any advice on that. Thank you!!!;)

An example(510 works similarly). http://www.shopsmithacademy.com/Tips_Archives/SST120_Stabilizing_Tables.htm
