I have been using the Nova G3 Chuck with my small bench top lathe which had a 9" limitation. Now that I'm starting to turn larger work on the Shopsmith is there any advantage to getting one of the full size chucks. I will probably be working with 12 to 14 inch wood at 3 to 4 inches thick.

Rich;
Shopsmith sells the Nova G3 chuck so it should be adequate. I use the One Way Talon which SS used to sell a couple of years ago.

From the woodcraft site description.

"Handles up to 14" diameter bowls and turnings with up to a 6" length spigot when using the standard 50mm jaws."
