Sounds like a nice deal. Wished my budget isn't already busted this month on my PowerPro order. :(

Where are you seeing proof that is a 510 or 520. I don't believe it is. Jim

Looks like a 500 to me. Has both narrow and wide extension tables. Has some nice 'goodies' with it.

Yeah it looks like a 500 to me. The smaller side table along with crank handle to lift the table and no extension tables/legs would say 500 to me.

The title of the Craigslist ad in the link has been changed to indicate it is a 510, but I agree with the previous posts that it is a 500.

Well that just goes to show you can't believe everything you read :D

Since I'm new to Shopsmith I really don't have the keen eyes you experts have. Thanks for saving me a wasted trip.

What is the saying, if it sounds too good to be true, then ......

Update: just got a response from the seller:

"It is actually a 510 model and as of right now its available. We have a few people interested in it. We are in North Carolina." ( so he says).

For $400 its a decent deal given that its a 500 with the extra wide extension table, bandsaw, and sander...plus the other small stuff like the mortising stuff (assuming its all there). Definitely not a 510 or 520 given the table configuration.

Lot of Craigslisters don't exactly know what they have and list things better than they actually are. Pictures are often from the back of the machine too. They also seem to always say they bought it 10 years ago, which is always 20-25 years based on the date code.

The dead giveaways for identifying that I used.

500 - Small main table, t handle for table adjustment
510 - larger main table, round handle for table adjustment, round tube on table for fence
520 - larger main table, round handle for table adjustment, wide front edge for fence and I think they all are type C headstocks with the safety key unless they were upgraded older models.

The tables alone tell the 'tale'(not surprising since that be the model differences). A less obvious one is a 505.

None of that is a reliable 'age' determinant as already pointed out(upgrades).
