Head stock rebuild

Does anything have to be lubed when rebuilding the headstock other than the areas the manual says needs oiling. I was wondering if the speed control arm where it contacts the Pork Chop needs some grease.

Yes. I would put a fait amount of oil on the shafts that the sheaves ride on. Also it helps a lot to polish those shafts and get them really clean before re-assembly.I am referrimg to the motor and control sheave shafts. Some dry lube such as top cote helps on the speed control quadrant. The headstock locking shaft can benefit from a good cleaning and some graphite when re-assembling.

YES, I agree. I use a dry coat moly lubricant on the moving parts of the Speed Control Assembly. Grease or oil tends to attract sawdust and crud on the quadrant.
I still am offering a free 10-32 bolt, 2 star washers and a nylock nut to replace the roll pin that holds the quadrant. I have a file with pictures on what to do if anyone is interested and Emails me.

Bill I emailed ya with that request. I have a new Speed Control Assembly for when I need it and wood like to make that upgrade to it.
