Does anyone know of a way to "shrink" photos down to the size necessary in order to post? For the record, I looked at the sticky Admin posted and couldn't find the answer.

If you are running Windoze XP, Microsloth has an "Image Resizer" under the
"Power Toys" tab. From what I remember, it worked well on an old system I had. It does NOT work on Windows 7 or Vista (also from what I remember).
I did find a "clone" for the above Power Toy
here. I have absolutely no first-hand knowledge about it.....never used it.
YMMV

There are online image editors like this one
For what you want all you need is to crop the part you want then resize
and don't save it with the same name and location it will probably overwrite the original.

Well, I guess I'm SOL. I'm on Windows 7 now. Anyway, I wanted to post a picture of the cradle I built for my grandson when it was in the shop and a photo with him in it.

I have used Irfan View for years and it works well. Best of all, it's free.

I forgot that Irfanview was also an editor I just use it to view .JPG2000 files.
It was free it has limited capabilities but will crop and resize OK.
There is another more popular freebie called Gimp I have never used it.
I love my Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 fairly cheep (20 bucks) on eBay and better that Photo Shop methinks.

Hey if you have the ability to up-load them to the internet to your ISP's provided space you should be able to link to them there.
They will display full size whatever that may be. You still want them sized reasonable. I try for under 1000 pixels width always.
Most people use at least 1024x768 monitor resolution and that should display fine. If your using some digital camera with umpteen
mega pixels the pix may be way wider then someones resolution not cool unless they want to save and print it.
To upload them I use Core FTP it's free and it's the best FTP program I have ever used and I've used like a dozen over the years.
You can e-mail them to me and I'll do it for you if image editing ain't your thing. or landline talk through I got free long distance.
PM me if you need e-mail or phone # I'll be glad to help.

I have FreeSizer 64 for my Windows 7 laptop. Works like a charm and is free.

I have used GIMP quite a bit and it works well, there are plenty of tutorials on the internet that can give you guidance on how to resize the picture. I have since purchased Adobe Photoshop and do not exactly remember how to do it with GIMP, but as I stated GIMP works well and best of all it's free.

There is a program on all Windows PCs called Microsoft Paint. Open the image file with that program. Chose Save As from the menu and save as a different file name so you keep a copy of your original full size image. Then resize the picture. You can find the right menu item or just press Control-W at the same time and a dialog box will pop up. Enter what size you want the picture to be (20% is about right for the size images that my camera takes). Save and close.
