10ER 110/220 motor

I am in the process reassembling a 10er that I bought last fall (just cleaning, repairing and replacing missing/damaged parts, not a full restore at this time). The problem I hope you can help me with is that as received there was no power switch and the motor had only about a foot of wire attached and it was solid wire(like house wiring not multi strand).

The motor it came with was made by GE Canada and is a dual voltage 110/220 model. The information off the plate is

MOD 11F800UA TP KC
FR 65 A 11.2/5.6 V 110/220
CY 60 RPM 1725 PH 1 HP 3/4
YK

I want to run it on 110v but am concerned that it may currently be wired for 220v. Any insight would be appreciated.

I know, "With out photos, it didn't happen.". :) I am collecting and formatting the photos and will post them soon.

Since the current input wires are connected in what appears to be a 'parallel' connection, I believe it is wired for 110v. A 220v connection would include a 'series' connection.

Notice the spacing of the terminals. The terminals currently 'jumpered' are spaced the same as the two middle terminals. A 220v connection would be the incoming wires to the outer two terminals and the center two terminals jumpered.

Not clear from the pix, is which terminal the internal wire from the right connects to. If the lower/middle terminal, it all makes sense - if it connects to the upper/outer terminal a bit of confusion exists. It is possible that the motor has always been connected for 110v and the internal wires are functional as connected. I believe the internal wires need to be connected across either of the upper or the lower wider spaced terminals for a 220v connection. Reason being, the start circuit is usually intended to be a 110v circuit. The internal wires are most likely the start circuit and direction of rotation is controlled by their polarity. So although the current connections are suitable for 110v (in whatever direction it runs) they are connected somewhat illogically.

That be my 'guess'!:)

I tried wiring it up and it runs like a top,:) so your 'guess' be right on the money.:)

JPG the motor man.
I've noticed most common posters have a couple areas of real speciality. JPG and motors seem to be a good combo. I'll have to point out the go to guys each time I notice it. You may not even know you are one...until you are. Maybe you guys have thoughts.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Do realize I do a lot of 'deductive' thinking with all devices that are previously unseen. I will not always be spot on because of that, but I do give it my best shot.

Lord knows I was waaaay out on a limb on a certain Mark VII motor post, but I learned much from that thread.

Well you helped me with that metal lathe motor which was a spot on analysis. Maybe I'm off topic. Just sayin that maybe we could establish which of us seem to have some of the more pertinent knowledge for the topic at hand. Everything from parts guys, who has metal working stuff, who's got the hand tools down, whos got the bill mayo skills, whos got the etc etc.... Might help the new posters as well. Maybe I'm off but it would seem like a good knowledge base. Shipwright for example and inlays or marquetry.
