Latest Project for the band!!

Our band boosters are making Taiko Drums as props and instruments for this year's field show "Samurai" the entire project gallery can be seen here
Barrels are used oak wine barrels that have been disassembled and glued together, reinforcing rings were added to each drum, glued into place and then prouted out for concentricity. These will be stained a dark red and the stands will be stained black. We are making six drums with stands in total. as this a marching band, the stands will be mobile with 8 inch caster wheels.
I was asked to make the stands and carts. Here is where I'm at on this project.
Lumber after dimensioning. I started with 2 5 ft 2x6s and 4 2x3s jointed 2 sides square and then ripped the remainder to 1 inch thickness and 2 1/8" width. Regular 1 x 3's were just not going to look right, but standard dimensional lumber looks awful. There really is budget for procurring 4/4 oak, so we're making do with what we have. This lumber is left ovber form last years props. I'll most likely reuse the lumber from last year's props for the entire project.
Chips and sawdust from making the lumber the right size. It's good to have a jointer!, You can see the cutoffs from the ripping process in the back.
Prototype assembled adjustments still need to be made, but this is stable and holds the drum well. The cradles were cut on my new bandsaw by pad sawing them. The clamps holding the lower cradle are temporary the crale will be glued and screwed on the final product. I just wanted to get the drum on the stand to evaluate the stability.
I will most likely recess the cross members using dados and use a half lap to join the longer pieces. I might make the overall width a bit narrower as well. Padding will be placed between the drum supports and drums when finished. I need to make 6 of these total these also need to be shoter as each will be monted onto a cart for mobility.
