Footprint of dust collector?

I haven't come across an affordable DC yet but just in case I do, will it fit through a trap door 16" by 22"?

Should be doable. The "main housing" is cylindrical, about 18" diameter by 12". The assembly instructions add components such as legs and diffuser to the "main housing." So, with dis-assembly....
Disclaimers: 1) bought my DC3300 used, so I have not seen the "main housing as delivered; 2) just bought DC3300 a week ago; and 3) I am absolute newbie to woodworking and to SS.

The DC3300 will break down to fit through that opening of yours. You can see the exploded draw of the collector here --

'Assembled' would require about 20" x 30"!(width x front to rear including handle, ports, wheels etc).

Now it's a case of waiting for my (affordable) DC to turn up.
btw, what's the wattage of the DC3300?

According to the Owners Manual that you can download from the site I mentioned earlier, "the Shopsmith Dust Collector 115-volt motor is rated
at 1/2 hp and draws 8.0 amps. This motor runs on
ordinary U.S. house current - 115 volts, 60 cycles (hz).
The circuit you use should be rated for at least 15 amp"

A DC-3300 might fit through a 16" x 22" trap door but I'm not sure I would...

Just nipped out to the garage to check the label: 240V, 4.4Amps (50Hz) - I reckon that makes it 1kW

Interesting discussion, I wonder why no one has asked how much height is available once the dusty collector is thru the trap door? Jim

My shoulders have been making firmer contact for the last couple of years.
fjimp, there's about 8 foot of height once through the trap.
I didn't realise that DCs drew so much current. I've just checked my Henry (Numatic) and it's 1kw to 1.2kw.
