Monday morning I ordered a headstock lock (513014). It shipped Tuesday by USPS and received on Thursday.
But I'm a little disappointed that no instructions came with it.
Last weekend I went through the SS and cleaned it up,lubed and waxed it. Now the headstock lock won't turn without a lot of trouble and won't lock the headstock down. So now that I have the new rod, I'll have to figure out how to get the old one off.

Thanks Dave for the info. I forgot that I have that PDF saved. But it eludes me as to why they say to remove the head stock from the way tubes. Besides the fact that the knob doesn't turn more that 1/8 of a turn.

The wedges cannot be removed(towards the center of the headstock) with the way tubes in the way.
1/8 of a turn? We are speaking of the headstock lock are we not?
Whoops! Are we doing a tie bar lock replacement?
No! Just checked the pn.
Wedges may have boogered threads!

Nope I haven't gotten to that yet. I'm thinking of maybe trying to drill out one of the wedges to remove em. Or maybe use a vise grips on the rod so I have enough leverage to turn the rod and force the wedges to move.
