... as is ours:

Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer,
Hold our Dominion in thy loving care;
Help us to find, O God, in thee A lasting, rich reward,
As waiting for the better Day, We ever stand on guard.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Having just gone past our Canada Day (July 1), I send greetings to my southern brothers. Have a safe, happy and free Fourth of July celebration. The world looks to us when they get in trouble.

The inscription on the U.S. side of the Peace Arch (between Blaine, Wa. and Surrey, B.C.) reads "Children of a common mother", and the words on the Canadian side read "Brethren dwelling together in unity". Within the arch, each side has an iron gate hinged on either side of the border with an inscription above reading "May these gates never be closed".

I seem to remember singing the second verse of the Star Spangled Banner when I was in grade school. I guess we tend to forget about it when all we ever hear is the first part. Thanks for the reminder.

Hummmm. I never heard of the Peace Arch between the US and our Canadian brethren. I'll have to put that on my list of places to see/visit. Thanks for the information.

Then you might also wish to see/visit the "Peace Bridge" between the USA and Canada. It connects Buffalo, NY with Fort Erie, Ontario.

Been to both, the Arch has a nice park. I live literally minutes from the border, guess where I go for gas, now that our government has seen fit to add another 'carbon tax' to gas. Where, I might ask, does this money go??? Methinks the emperor has a new tailor.....
