I know some might find this sacrilegious, but has anyone restored a Mark V and painted it white? I’ve started stripping the paint on one and could not find an image or link in the restoration thread where anyone had used that color. Most restorations go for the original colors. I'm thinking of painting it original colors('80's grey), white or school colors(EWU)(red & white). tried to insert the EWU logo but it woul dnot take.

I think white is a great idea. I haven't seen a white Mark 5, but here's a 10ER in white. Very handsome! Alec

Color is up to you. But an off white, grey white or dirty white will look very cool. Blue grey, cobalt, or other grey. Look at old machinery pics for the colors, old bridgeports, lathes etc. hell, some old lathes were black with brass parts shined and cool silver polished pieces. Would look equally cool just think old school for inspiration.

If it is a show piece, then white works so long as you keep it in the kitchen. In the garage or a shop (better than garage) it will get dirty. If it is a tool, keep it simple and easy to keep looking clean, even if some stains get on it. White will show everything - even the blood from when you did something stupid.

I really like the white.

Try a grayish white. It'll look more the period as well as be a dirt hider. The point about dirt is valid with the white.

Just got back from the store, had to pick up some flea and tick yard spray along with mineral spirts. I know the rest of the country is getting hammered witht he head and lack of rain but here in NE Washington St. its been a wet spring, and the ticks are bad this year. 1st time I've had to spray in the 7 years. And its raining again today. Usually were bone dry by now. Anyway, picked up a can of Rustoleum Hammered white. I'll give that a try and post the pics when I'm done.
