I purchased a "new in the box" Sawsmith 2000 awhile back. I successfully got the thing put together.(Sort of long story for another time) Now comes the question is there a way to protect the motor(Open motor). Can it be covered with something or ???.

Most open motors need a lot of air to keep cool. I have modified many round and square cans (soup, juice types) with a screen over each end to fit over the motors. You have to have some clearance to allow air flow into and out of the motor. I have used louvered ends where dirt or sawdust could get into the motor. I have used modified house or floor air vents to attach to the ends of the cans.
