I finally got around to building a couple of my own versions of the SPT Mounting Base. I repurposed some 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 x 1/8 angle iron I reclaimed from some storage shelves that I build several years ago, that I no longer have room for, and found some square steel tubing that was the perfect ID to slip over the mounting tubes. So I set up the DW chop saw and my Miller squirt (wire) welder and did some chopping and hot-gluing today. A little clean-up, some mounting holes drilled, and some spray paint, and I should be good to go.

The second one will be used to safely store my second SS bandsaw.

The ultimate goal for the jointer stand is to further repurpose some metal and build a power stand for the jointer.

Here is what I was using to store the BS....It was not really tall enough, and, I was not comfortable with the long term durability.....especially for the side torque/twist of the jointer.

Great idea. I've got a couple that I'd like to mount on stands and this will work great. Once I figure how to reuse the old SS motor I'll have one done and running.

Space seems to always dictate what we can do. Some people have those Shopsmith storage bases. Years ago, I took a 2 x 8 or a 2 x 10 and simply drilled holes to match the SPT tubes and that lasted. I could of used the SPT 505655 aluminum mounting base- but they are expensive! So I just used a few supports and hung the 2 x on the wall and that's where the SPTs lived when they weren't being used. I had to get them off the floor and used the extra space in the board for the lathe chisels and things that wee eating the peg boarbfggvvbvbd I mounted above & behind the SPT storage board.

That's one way, I'm sure there are many others. I know from experience that nothing beats the feeling creating your own solution and saving a few buck to boot.
