New Shop Vac

I just purchased a Ridgid WD1450 Shop Vac. Wow!!!! What pleasant surprise, really powerful and quiet.
I had a Shop Vac years ago which was fairly powerful but noisey. When I got my DC3300 I gave my Shop Vac to my son in law and have lived years without one using the Shopsmith dust collector as a shop vac.
I had a mess to clean up that I just didn't want to expose my SS to so I went out and bought the Ridgid machine. I'm sold.
It will actually pick up a 3 ft 2x4 and if it would fit in the hose I believe it would suck it into the canister.
Cleaned the inside of both cars in record time. Biggest problem was trying not to suck up the floor mats. Cleaned the shop floor and had a great time seeing how far away from the nozzle it will suck up things.
I would recommend it to anyone looking for a shop vac. My HD sells them for $100. I would say it is as quiet as I remember Fein and Festool vacs. Like I said that is from memory not a side by side test.

Hm, how big is this thing? For a hunnert bucks, I can daydream about leaving my dust collect sys attached to the machines and have a separate shop vac for floor debris- esp a quiet one.
And of course now I must go down to the shop and see how big a 2x4 I can lift with my current sucker...

I think they rate it as 6.5 hp and has a 14 gallon canister. It fits in a 2ft by 2ft by 2.5 ft space. I cleaned a small area out under my bench and it fits perfectly. I really really like how quiet it is. I think it may be quieter than the SS DC3300.
Keeping an eye on my wife who thinks it would be great for the tile floors in the house.
I can see this thing doing double duty. With the 20 ft power cord and the fact that I can hook SS hoses to it I can clean pretty close to 50 feet radius.
Plus it comes with a lifetime warrantee. What more could I want?

I heard last week, from a very reliable unnamed source (actually the same source that Harry Reed got his tip that Romney hadn't paid taxes for 10 years) that Obama will be providing stimulus funds to a solar powered shop vac company and that tax credits to buyers will be equal to the cost of the vacs. So, you get them free with Obama money. Even better, they are going to be the most powerful vacuums ever made. Like everything else from the Federal Government, they really suck.

I have the WD1450 attached to a Dust Deputy and am very happy with the result. After using a Craftsman for years, I couldn't believe that a shop vac that much more powerful could be that quiet.

I would guess the WD1450 would be a great candidate for the Dust Deputy.
I can't rave enough about this shop vac man does it work well.
This vac is one of two products I have tried from Ridgid that I have felt I got more than my monies worth. The other is the Flip Top stands, they work so very well and are as handy as anyone could imagine.

I have a similar but older model Ridgid shop vac and have been very pleased with it. I also have an awesome Ridgid contractor table saw with a great fold up rolling stand, and a random orbital sander (factory reconditioned unit purchased at a woodworking show).
I would buy each again in a heartbeat. I'm usually a Lowes kind of guy, but when I need something with an electric cord, Ridgid is hard to pass up.
