Does anyone have any info on the SSUG.ORG website. I get a message that Internet Explorer can't find the site. Anyone else have a problem?

I got this when I googled it :
5 Sep 2011 – In case you missed the announcement the site will not be renewed and will go away on March 26. This was from a post at the yahoo group so if you want more ...
The yahoo group is still there. I just accessed it.

Hi,
I had visited towards the end of Aug. They run on donations and the site has been lacking in that department for a long while now. The donation chart was showing $8 towards July and nothing for Aug.... I believe it costs something like $12 a month to keep it going so it could be the owner just gave up on having to pay for it himself. Doing admin and paying out could just have gotten old especial since there has been so little activity there of late.

Before Shopsmith created this forum we are now on, SSUG was one of the more popular Shopsmith websites. But since this forum came to be, less and less SS users visited the site.
I'm sorry to see it go as I was a frequent user and was witness to watching its membership shrink to only a few of us diehard SSUG users. As of late, when I would write something on their forum I had no replies, unlike what it is like here. I, and the other few other hangers on, were there until it faded away into cyberspace at midnite on Aug. 31st.
When I had the opportunity I bought a SSUG T-shirt and coffee mug from them. SSUG used to sell merchandise with their logo on it to help raise money for the site. I guess I now have a nice rememberance of the site hanging in my closet and sitting in my cupboard. I guess I'll pull down that coffee mug and salute them with a drink of coffee (with some J.D. added to spice it up), raising my cup to the moderators and the members that were still there until the end, and I'll wear the T-shirt to my next woodworking club's meeting as sort of a farewell to them. They worked hard to keep the website going, in fact having to go offline for a few short periods as they saved money but they always brought it back online. They always let us know beforehand but this time I believe is the final end to a very informative Shopsmith website.
Wonder if the Yahoo site will be next to go since Yahoo's popularity has been dropping a lot in the last year, and who knows how much longer it will be around. I've heard it is suffering from 'AOL Syndrome'. Anyone out there still remember AOL.

Unfortunately, we let them fail by not supporting them.

farley: I believe we are discussing two different user groups here. SSUG and the Yahoo SSusers Group are two different organizations (of which one (SSUG) is now defunct).
