Government Solicitation

Well, maybe that is a slight misstatement. It was not the Government but rather the Democratic National Committee or someone working in their behalf.

I just got a call soliciting a donation of as little as $3.00 to support the President's reelection effort.

Now if that was Romney calling, I would not be surprised. I am registered as a Republican. But to have the Democrat's asking for financial support - well that strikes me as desperate.

BTW I give no money to any political candidate. I think it should be illegal to do so. I would like to see a strict limit placed on campaign spending with no private contributions allowed, especially from PACs and Special Interest Groups.

The cost of 'Democracy' is getting pretty high ...
Well the media needs the money, so it is a good cause !!!!
After all, they are entertaining us, politicians and media ...

Here's how it works:

Because it is political, they can dial any number in the US or territories and solicit whatever. They use robo-dialers that have the NPA (area code) and NXX (next three digits) programmed in and then they begin with 0000 and sequence by 1 until they reach 9999 and then start over. If no answer or hangup it goes to the next number in the sequence. They can literally dial every phone in your area code once each day. If someone answers, then a solicitor picks it up (or you get a recorded message) and asks for money. If they dial 150,000,000 numbers in the next 30 days and get only a 1% hit rate donating $3 then they have generated $45 million for Ovomit. They don't give a rat's ass if the phone is answered by an octogenarian, a nurse attending to someone in hospice, a teen-ager or a three year old. It's all about the money.

This is the game that has been played for the last 4 years. Throw enough crap out there and some of it will stick and maybe people won't notice the stink, or you can blame it on The Rolling Stones (look up the song, Blame it on the Stones).

I'm not enchanted with either party right now. At least on the state races I plan on voting against anyone who is an incumbent. Might not be a bad idea at the national level either.

Uhhhh, must be Clinton Math... 1% of 150M times $3 = 4.5 M, not 45 M ... but who's counting??

Of course, those 1.5 million $3.00 donors probably don't expect to get much "influence" for that $3.00.

Whereas if you ask the correct individual for a $4.5 million check, you may get it, but I'm pretty sure he's gonna want something in return....

After I posted that I started to edit it and then chose not to, wondering if anyone would catch it. Nope, not Clinton Math, but Obama Care Math. Cut the deficit (Hope and Change) but it has ZOOOMED WAY UP. Reduce healthcare but it will cost triple. Hey, it's all Obama Money and every left thinking American wants some of that Free Obama Money.

I love the right to vote
I hate the choices I have

Why is it every election the choice seems to be who's gonna screw us over the least?

Most calls you receive trying to collect $$$$ is often not from the group. I heard that anyone can collect for anything and only required to give 10% to the group. They just pocket the other 90%. All you need is a phone and a random phone number.

If you give to anything, you should give direct to the organization not someone on the phone. Amazes me how many people just take the word of the person on the phone who they may or may not be.

I know we try to minimize the politics here, but since we've already opened that can of worms... For those of you unhappy with the choices from the 2 big parties, look at Gary Johnson with the Libertarian Party. "Maximum Liberty, Minimum Government."

The government today is a direct result of voting for the lesser of two evils. So why keep voting that way?
