Speed adjuster rubbing

When I tighten the set screw on the speed adjuster it sets in a way as to rub on the speed indicator dial. It looks like the adjuster is bent or the shaft is bent because it sets crooked in the shaft. I removed the speed adjuster unit and the shaft looks fine. I see no marks on the adjuster itself that would indicate a blow as to bent the adjuster wheel. Am I missing something or do I just have a bent adjuster wheel?

RICK, you can tell better than any of us if you have bent parts. You have them in your hands.

Maybe a couple pictures would help.

Make sure the set screw is positioned over the small depression on the shaft. The screw must be centered over the depression and seated fully into it.
