PP stuck partway on way tubes

Help! My new PowerPro will not go on the way tubes even though the supplied cardboard tubes are being pushed out as required by the instructions.

I believe that the front side Headstock Lock has rotated but I can't be sure.

Since this can't be the first time this has happened, I would appreciate advice from someone who has experienced (and solved this) problem. I would call SS but of course it is Saturday and waiting until Monday doesn't help my nerves.

The pi9c shows the length that the cardboard tubes have been pushed out: 3 1/2 inches near side and 3 3/8 inches far side.

Hi,

I've never had the cardboard tubes to work with but I'd pull one of them out and see how far the along you are.

From the photo I'd say you are past the locks and now just need to lift a bit on the end of the headstock until the tubes slide through. This is not uncommon.

If I'm wrong then back the headstock off and line the wedges with your fingers until you can slide the cardboard tubes back in and have another go.

I agree with Ed, once you can see inside it will be easier to make it all fit. I had your issue once and realized the tubes were not mounted evenly at the starting end. I got down on the floor and determined one was further into the bracket that the other. We squared them up and even table alignment was easier. Jim

I am guessing the sling is causing the headstock to be cocked. Try slight rotation of the headstock(all three axis) to get it uncocked. As Ed suggested, remove the tubes and look into the headstock way tube holes to see what may be causing it to become 'stuck'.

Thanks for the advice. I pulled the cardboard tubes out and both locks were slightly rotated. I re-aligned them with dowels rods and put the tube back in one side, slightly lifted the right side of the headstock as I pushed it on. Once I got past the locks it went almost all the way on. I had to loosen the locks to get the left side of the headstock to raise up enough to get through the left-hand hard mounts.:)

Everything seems to be square since it and the table move smoothly from one end to the other and both the table and headstock locks work. When I first added the double tilt table I made sure that the way tubes were even.

Now to get everything aligned and add some power!
