Upgrading? You've got old parts!

Hi!
At some point, I am sure that I will be bitten by the upgrade bug, but right now, I'm working with the basic MkV Greenie (and missing some of those)...
I'd appreciate if anyone might look into their old parts bins for the upper and lower table saw guards, and, if you're willling to part with them, let me know how much you'd like for them.
Thanks much!

Ebay is a good source for parts. And prices seem to be lower than normal.

Absolutely!
I've kept very close track of Ebay sales for about a year. And parts like headstocks/bandsaws....i.e especially larger more expensive items, but many smaller ones like chucks, miter gauges, etc., are cheaper now than at any time since I got my 1st MK V 500.
May be a seasonal thing.

Are you a new comer? How wide a search window are we talking about - just that one year?

Newcomer? Am I still a newcomer after a bit over a year? Don't know how you guys define it. I've bought 4 machines (with several bandsaws, jigsaws, belt sander, etc.) and rebuilt 2 of them completely. Sold off lots of extra parts that I'd never use on Ebay. And am still working on my latest, a 510.
As to closely following prices, about a year. I realize that prices may be way higher than before I started tracking them. That is not what I meant. They are just lower than at any time during the past year.

I was being inappropriately sarcastic, Fred. No offense intended. Ebay prices are, in my opinion, at an all time high. I simply can not believe what some people believe their "spare parts" are worth.
If you could go back two, three, four years, you'd find that you could put together a complete 505/510 for a couple hundred dollars. I don't think you can do that today.
Start by trying to buy a motor or a main table. $200 will disappear in a hurry.

No offense taken. As I said, my 1 year window is probably short, in the big scheme of things. I'm sure parts will become a lot more scarce as time goes on.
I'm constantly shocked at CraigsList prices for "Shopsmiths". There is a typical 1980 Mark V on my local CL for a mere $3,500! I see the $1500 price range the most, and know that nobody is paying that much. Then I wonder where these machines end up (usually there is no follow-up ad with a price reduction).
Makes me think they go to the dump, or are given away. I doubt most folks have enough knowledge to part it out on Ebay.

Bill?,
I'm not too far away. JI'm just to the north of you in Spokane. What are you looking for?

Ain't that the truth. For a while we had reasonable prices locally. One might even say that with negotiation a Mark V could be found for a reasonable price. Then the posts for $1000+ Mark V 500s showed up and prices have gone up.
I must have started looking too early in the year because when I was looking there wasn't much to choose from. Also there was less competition and I bought a machine because it came with a lot of accessories including a Forest WW1 and Dado King set. The latest machines listed just don't have many accessories either.
I probably should get rid of at least one of my machines, my vehicles are spending too much time on the driveway and the mornings are getting colder.
I'm amazed at what some people pay on Ebay. I can't imagine paying 90% or more for a used part that could be purchased from Shopsmith directly.
