Not looking for a laptop replacement. Just something smaller to take along on trips, watch videos, read books or forums.

Nexus 7.

Even my wife wants her own now.

You can run the android kindle app on it just fine.. and Google books (where I like to read out of copyright 100 year old free woodworking and music theory books).

If you check out books from your local library, you may wish to talk with the reference section to see which operating system works for their ebooks.
