Can Sketchup files be transmitted over the internet to be used on a computer other than the one they were created on or is the best I can do is post a read only file in the archives. I want to give someone else FULL ACCESS to some of my drawings.

Yes. The only issue might would be if you have a new version and they're using an old version. They might have to upgrade their version, but otherwise there's no problem doing that.

You can share SketchUp fines through their warehouse. If you want to allow only a few people to edit it you can all share a single free Google account and password for the purpose of sharing. You can all use the free application called Dropbox, you copy the SketchUp file into your Dropbox folder and then share the link (any way you want). Others can get a copy of the file in their Dropbox and if you allow edit it. You do the editing locally but Dropbox synchronizes the files with all the people you share it with.

There any many other ways to do this if you are interest and this does not work reply with exactly what you are trying to do.

I saved some of my Sketchup files to flash. Then I took the flash to a computer that has Sketchup and was able to read and manipulate those files as though they were created on that second computer.

From this I conclude that you should be able to attach a Sketchup file to an email and then download that file at the distant end.

PS: To validate this, I sent a file to my daughter, had her save it with a different file name to her hard drive. She then sent it to me and I downloaded it. It opened in Sketchup just like it would have without the transfer.

The short answer to your question is YES.

Access to a copy is not the same as access to the 'original'. However it may be equivalent if both parties diligently keep each other 'updated'. Only one can change it during a given time interval, or they get out of sync.

I put sketchup files (ending in skp) on google drive and there I can setup whether or not the whole world can read it or just specific gmail accounts (everyone I know uses gmail now).

There is also an app that you can download that will make all these files shared on google drive appear as a folder on your desktop. You can find it at the bottom of the left hand menu when you visit google drive.
