Saw Dust Session

Dang I missed another Saw Dust session, just realized it when I read Nicks comments in the shop apron thread. I don't know what it is but for some reason I'm a month off in my thinking. Either we blew through December too fast or something strange thing is happening with 2008 but I'm reading January dates and thinking a month into the future.

Never had the problem before, of course I was never this old before either, I wonder if age may have something to do with it?????

In any case how was the session? Did Nick appear in his super hero cape and tights

From what I could see (choppy video and lots of pauses) it was good. They just seem to be having broadband problems still. Not being a turner I skipped the ring episode. Then lost connection a lot. I am not complaining just stating the facts. I have been watching a lot of the woodworking in action series at http://www.woodworkinginaction.com/
There is a lot of good stuff there and a very reasonable price.

If you had to miss a Sawdust Session, Ed, this was a good one to miss. For reasons I can't explain, there was an enormous amount of traffic on the Internet and almost all our viewers complained of a jerky video. Our upfeed speed dipped below 300 kbps for the first time since we went to our new service. We called the service to ask about the problem and they too were mystified by the unusual amount of traffic. Neither one of us had done anything different from what we've always done since we found the settings that worked reasonably well for us.

It was a shame, because Drew makes his first onscreen appearance in this session. But you'll get to see him in the posts.

With all good wishes,

Any idea when it is going to downloaded onto the site so it can be viewed?

Hoeing to see the RingMaster video, but what a mess. I tried to view it in safari and Netscape with no luck. Also on Utube. Why only this site only?

Nick or Drew,

Finally managed to register for a live session. Received my confirmation e-mail (for the December 29th session! LOL). I went to the live test page and can use the black board, the chat works, but nothing appears in the video window. All I see is the background.

Is the live test page functioning correctly?

I am using an Apple laptop, OSX v 10.4.11, Safari v.3.0.4, and Flip4Mac v 2.2.

If the page is functioning correctly, it appears I can not view your live feed. If so, I should be taken off the reservation list so someone that can see it may do so.

I am using an Apple laptop, OSX v 10.4.11, Safari v.3.0.4, and Flip4Mac v 2.2.0.049 and it works.

I also have "SWF & FLV Player" and that may have something to do with it. I know it helps with the delayed version by giving me the missing controls on the bottom of the window.

We offer the Sawdust Sessions as a free educational service. The only favor that we ask in return is that you come to this site to watch them. The reason should be obvious; we're hoping that you will get more familiar with our site, come back often, and occasionally buy something. And even if we wanted to put them on YouTube, as we do our shop tips, we couldn't -- YouTube has a time limit and the Sawdust Sessions are too long.

The sessions are hosted on Google Video and they are streamed in Flash, so they should be available to both PC and Apple owners whose computers are properly configured, and who have a high-speed connection to the Internet. (Dial-up will not work.) If you are having difficulties, we provide an FAQ and troubleshooting guide at http://www.shopsmithacademy.com/FAQ.html .

With all good wishes,
