My oldest grand daughter is a traveling consultant. This past week she has been here in Tucson. Sunday morning, early, she left to go back to work in Hyattsville, MD. Yup, she is right in the middle of this mess. The University campus where she works has closed down so she is stuck at her apartment. Fortunately, she is not alone. She knows several people there quite well. She is on high ground in a relatively new concrete and brick building. Guess it is time to hunker down for a Hurricane Party.

I can't do much, except ask the Big Guy for her help, which I'll
be doing!

Hi,
Our daughter and family live in Middletown DE so we are watching the news and listening to WDEL on the computer. Saying a few prayers is about all we can do at this point.
Some years back they lost their home and a dog to one of these storms so we all share a lot of anxiety when a storm is near.
What we last heard was that the winds were slowing, and things were not going to get as bad as feared in that respect. Only small pockets of power outages, not as bad in that department either. Of course this is still a pretty major storm and it is not over.
We have not heard from them since the early evening, so we have no personal reports to give.

She has done well. Wind has subsided, rain is slacking off, no flooding in her area. She is safe, warm and cozy. Don't know about damages, if any. Never lost power which is phenomenal in a high wind situation like this.
We are thankful. Probably more than she. She is too young and too bold to understand.

She's not that far from me in Gaithersburg, MD. We've lost power but consider ourselves lucky; in the surprise storm back in June we had a tree land on us!
It sounds like she may be in better shape than we are if she has power. We are running on our generator. If she gets stuck here and needs a place we have a spare bedroom and bath. You know how to reach me.

Thank you very much for the kind offer. I will keep that in mind and I will let her know you are there. As for power, my information is from early in the storm. She may have lost power through the night. However, she was reading at 8:00pm (11:00 pm there I think) our time last night.

Three hr difference this week! Two hours difference after Sun/0200.
Sorry yer not doing DST alters the 'difference' 2x/yr.
Oh well, at least delta GMT("UST") stays the same!;)

Is that the same as Zulu Time.
Hmmm That's probably been changed since I got out of the service. It probably is no longer "politically correct".

Yes indeed, that as well!
GMT is for the brits, and UST is for the SI folks.
The following is for the military service deprived set.
Since when has PC been a part of the war mong..ah.ah.ah..military?;)
P.S. Guard Duty in inclement weather is a PITA regardless of the time zone.
BTW, ZULU refers to 'zero' time and zulu is the phonetic word for 'z'.
Always using zulu time eliminates time zone confusion(except for those civilians who use multitudinous times around the world). Then there are those who deviate from even those 2x/yr!:D
