Hi,
Been cleaning some of the parts with a steel wheel. Everything is comming out fine, all parts shinning an looking good. Light pressure is even doing a good job on the aluminum parts.
When I get all the rust and film off now , the wire wheel is leaving a dark color on the metal. Not heat related, still cool to the touch. It comes off fairly easy with steel wool by hand. I believe wheel is just dirty. It did not do this on the first few parts.

My question is is there a way to clean the wire wheel or will I have to replace it?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe rinse it in acetone?

Also, consider lacquer thinner, (in well vented or outside area)mineral spirits or naphtha.

Try Simple Green but don't let it soak too long and use an air compressor, shop bac or hair dryer to blow it dry.

Soaked it mineral spirits and PROBLEM SOLVED.

I just stopped by Harbor Frieght and picked up one of those sand blaster guns. It's the mid range one, 1.7 cubic of air and has a 9 oz pot, gravity feed. I dont do much de-rusting here in Florida because its like our weeds......you just dont stop it. anyway, the media they sell with it is just like that sand i bought to lay pavers on so i can get a big bag at Lowe's..

If so they be selling the wrong 'stuff'.
