Shopsmith Band Saw

Post by dusty »

I was working with my Band Saw this morning when I discovered two holes in the casting that I had never noticed before.

Can anyone tell me what they are for? One is very clear in this photo. Details are not as clear on the other but the hole is readily distinquishable.

I have the very same two holes on mine. They are just below the drive spindle. They seem to have no purpose other than maybe for adding a cover for the drive spindle????

the holes shown in the picture are indeed for installing the belt guard bracket if the bandsaw is mounted on a stand. the nuts fit inside the hex shaped recess. bob
