I need to extend the movement of my SS and plan on making or buying an extension cord to be able to reach from 10' to 20' further than the SS cord allows. Any suggestions or cautions.

I have my PowerPro plugged into a 15 foot extension cord and I have had no issues yet. I have a 110/120 20 amp circuit and am using an extension cord from Lowes which I believe it is 14 gauge.

Mine is 220, does that make a difference?

I made up a 12' cord extension cord to plug into my 220 outlet. Works great as an extension and as an adapter for the 110 plug on the end of my PowerPro's power cord.

thx, I had already changed the plug on the SS to a 220 plug, now I'll just make up an extension. What gauge wire did you use, #10, #12?

I wanted to maintain the ability of using 110 easily, therefore the extension cord. I used 12 gauge for the cord. It is more than adequate with the lower amperage requirements at 220.

Thx, I wish I would have thought of that.

If you do make up an extension cord with a 220 volt plug on one end and a 110 volt socket on the other be sure to lock the cord up when not in use lest someone not familiar with your wiring scheme plug the cord into the 220 and try to power a 110 tool on the other end. Can be dangerous at least or lethal at worse. Incidentally, it is illegal for a professional electrician even to give instruction on how to make such an adaptor much less provide one. However, what an individual chooses to do is of course their own choice.
