I was amazed at the special edition plane for $1,796.00.
I'm sure they build nice tools, but there is definitely a weird component to the hobby of woodworking. To each is their own, but there definitely is a subset that will spend a fortune on tools. I though Lie Nielsen was expensive at $300-$400.

They sent me a catalog many years ago. Lots of nice things but none that I was willing to spend that much on. Sorry, the tools are more expensive then I can justify buying.
I did save the catalog, sort of a keepsake as I knew I wouldn't be on the catalog list for long, and I wasn't.

I have purchased a couple of things from Bridge City. Then discovered that Lee Valley and others offer similar items without the high price. Jim

If I had $250 to spend, I'd probably have another Shopsmith off craigslist! Maybe TWO!

If you think that SS is expensive try to get spare parts from Delta.
I have a new Delta midi lathe and I checked for prices in case something breaks. Delta charges $35.00 for a replacement belt and none are available and no date is given for availability. I found the replacement belt online for $4.42. Go figure. The knockout bar is listed as $77.00 !!!!!! This for a piece of 5/16 drill rod with a knob that I could turn in less than ten minutes. Can you spell "rippofff"?
