Good afternoon. I wanted to share this project. Partly because I've never been able to get a SketchUp file on the Forum and partly because I hope to install this in a couple weeks. And then I should have a few pictures to compare to the concept.

To the right of the drawing is the entry door from the clients driveway. The funky opening to your left is a window (my SketchUp skills leave something to be desired). There's a table, a chair and a huge dog food container in the space now. The client is looking for a place to put on/off boots, a place to hang coats and scarfs, a place for keys, a flashlight and doggie bags and all the general stuff we keep at the door.

The bench has two full extension drawers. That long box above the bead board is a coat rack - it'll have 6 hooks. The long box opens for storage. The bottom of the tall cabinet is a slide out drawer that will hold the dog food container, in the middle is a wine rack (plans from Hands On and finally at the top extra kitchen storage.

The project is painted (not may call) so I used poplar, birch PW and some mdf.

I'm really excited to see it finished and in place.

Really Cool! Not all of us have a big wine rack in the mud room, but might be handy on some days.

I'm pretty much done with this now. My wife is making a seat cushion for the bench, I'm working on the wine rack, and there are a couple of trim pieces - filler strips that need to be fitted and painted. See the 'inspector' in the middle pic? He's checking out the secret compartment. I attached the toe kick with rare earth magnets, reaching under you can easily pull it away. Then I made a little pull-out tray so the client could put a laptop or something they wanted to hide when they're gone.

The wine rack has been more difficult than I expected. I've had a 'Dickens of a time' with the hole saw. I have got it sorted out now.

Now I gotta go check the contents of my secret compartment under some steps. Do not recall the last time I was 'in there'.

You have achieved one of my woodworking goals....to get really really proficient with Google Sketchup. Making Components, and assemblies....its a mystery to me, but I will get it figured out.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that has installed a cat perch on the window sill so the cat can watch the birds and critters. Nice work and it looks just like the drawing to boot.

Great looking mud room and a great addition to the house.Like the build and design and paint job that matches the house. Great job!
