Greetings from Durango, Colorado - where the weather is great 300 days a year (but the supply of wood is horrible).

I recently acquired a greenie with Jointer in decent condition for $200.

My unit is pretty much original. It even came with the original owner's manual.

I see a couple of non-stock screws in the head. Looks like it has a new belt.

I picked up a live tail Center at woodcraft, since I didn't like the fixed center.

I'll use the M5 for turning and as a drill press. My table saw is a BT3000 (loved the thread on the Shopsmith BT).

Am curious about the Millers Falls lathe chisels that came with it --- are they original? Looks like previous owners didn't do much turning.
These chisels look new. I have some Millers Falls hand planes - but didn't know they made chisels.

Greetings and welcome to the Forum. Durango is a beautiful place - I love the San Juan Mountains and SW Colorado has always been one of my favorite areas in CO.

As far as I know, any lathe tools that original came with a Mark V were all Shopsmith branded (?) My guess is lathe tools came as part of some accessory package and weren't a stock item supplied with all machines...at least the MV500 my Dad bought in '78 didn't include them to the best of my knowledge - he bought a big set of Sorby lathe tools when he bought the machine.

Nice to have another Colorado guy on the group. Welcome. There are also excellent wood sources in the Denver area. Paxton Lumber carries a wide assortment of fine woods. They are also willing and able to deliver in Durango. Nice to have you aboard. I have spent many a fine day in the Durango area. Jim

Dude, if your interest is turning, check out the antique ShopSmith ER. It's a BEAR to get into drill-press mode, (so much cast iron) but that cast iron makes it a better lathe.
