What kind of wood is this?

I got this wood a while back from Mbcabinetmaker, but I don't know what it is. The grain kind of looks like some of the maple I have, but it has sort of a... pinkish... hue to it. Here's a couple pictures of two boxes made from it (one with a couple coats of Watco Danish Oil, one just sanded, no finish applied) and a piece of maple for comparison.

The two boxes are cherry and the long strip is maple, possibly red maple.

If tis cherry, light exposure will darken it. The color resembles some underlayment plywood I have-know not what it tis.

It appears to me to be cherry. If you found it burns easily when being worked that's a good indication it's cherry.
