"Mark V Finger Joint Jig"

As stated in another thread, I am starting this thread to discuss the development of a Finger Joint Jig that is tailored for use on the Mark V. The jig that I have in mind is not a new design but rather a modification to or combination of others I have seen.
The following Sketchup images shall set the starting point.

I have two changes in mind as I start.
The first involves changing the overall dimension to fit the Mark V table.
The second is for the moment just a thought. In the original design, the index pin is adjustable in two ways. The left side of the pin is changed by one of the two adjustment screws and the width of the index pin is adjusted by a second. I am seriously considering eliminating the adjust ability of the left hand side because it can already be set by using the quill.

It is my opinion that you should retain the micro adjust for the width of the pin. While the width of the pin can certainly be obtained by moving the quill...it is nearly impossible to move the quill in increments that precise...unless I am missing something which is entirely possible. A 1/4 turn of a 10-32 screw would adjust the pin 1/128" or .0078"
Also, I have no experience with sketch up but it looks to me like your fixture is backwards on the table.
I was recently in a car accident and suffered a concussion and may not be thinking clearly yet. If I have misspoken, I apologize.

You have not mispoken George. If it appears backwards, it appears backwards and that is because IT IS. Thank you for saying so. I might have built this thing backwards before I noticed it.
Umff. I guess that is why we do concept drawings.

:( Much better now than after I cut and glued.
I now agree that both sides of the index pin need to be adjustable.

Thank you for that input. The one that I am using as an inspiration must have come from Shopnotes originally. My sketches are very similar.

You guys that don't like to mess with this sorta stuff can just ignore it. I started the thread and I am going to finish it. You can always make good use of the ignore function. If you haven't messed with that enough to know how to use it, let me know and I'll post a tutorial.
I'm going to start making sawdust on this hopefully tomorrow. I've heard some noise about Christmas returns however so we'll have to wait and see.[ATTACH]19689[/ATTACH]

Looks like an interesting project. I have a set of plans that looks a lot like yours in one of my notebooks. Might be the same base but I would have to find it to be sure.
I think you have an incra jig right? Have you ever used that for making these type of joints?

Yes, I do have the Incra and it works very well for doing this sort of work. I have a small Incra not the current version that is big enough to handle most everything you might want to build.
Concept is borrowed so your plans are likely similar. This is different only in that I am resizing it to fit on the Mark V table and my own needs.
