There has been a lot said about table and blade alignments. I just happened onto a site that offers a wealth of information that I thought I'd share.

I have two frequently used saw blades (mounted on arbors) that I decided to check. Runout on one combination (blade and arbor) checked when out of expection. It measured .12" difference between high and low readings on the dial indicator. The other combination measures .002".

I conclude that the drive shaft is not a problem and that one arbor and/or blade is either bad or dirty. Cleaning the blade and arbor brought the runout to .004". I woulod like it to be better but it is usable at this level.

Thanks for the link. My headstock is en route from being overhauled and once I get it back and move into the new workshop next month, this will be first on my to-do list. As far as I know, this has never been done on my SS since it was bought new in '78 (!).
