I thought some of you might find part of this thread interesting. I stumbled across it while looking for something else.
I couldn't find any message numbers so just scroll down to the burgundy colored distant cousin of a Shopsmith. There are also pictures a bit farther down the page. The fellow is in England and the thread is part of a tiny trailer and teardrop trailer forum. It is an interesting read but I did just skim a lot of it.

Thanks for the link, Art! I find the timing and similarity between the Coronet, especially the "Major", and the first Shopsmith very interesting.

Thanks a bunch Art. I have skimmed it and bookmarked it for later closer reading. That is a "LOT" of information on a very interesting machine.
Thanks again.

I was checking out that website last year at this time while I helped by brother in law finally put together his Myford ML8 lathe, which had been sitting in a box since he bought it in 1988. The Myford can be seen here. http://www.lathes.co.uk/myfordwood/

He only had the basic lathe, but as you scroll down, you will see it had optional table saw, disc sander, jointer and band saw attachments.

Seems the lathe-based multi-purpose machine was tried by a number of different companies.
