I had a large shop and plans for an accessory tool shelf, I thought I would never need. I've now down sized to a smaller shop and am rethinking that tool shelf but I cannot find my plans. Of course Shopsmith will sell me one since they no longer give away the plans. Does anyone have a set of the old plans which Shopsmith gave away for years? And is the shelf worth while? It kinda looks like it might get in the way.

I built one for my Shopsmith by looking at pictures on the internet then just laying all the parts out on the board where I wanted, I changed the arrangement slightly from the Shopsmith version but not much. I just used a 2x6 for the board then lag screws to attach it to my legs. It is worth putting one on so everything is right there no searching for anything and I have not found it to get in my way. Just collects a lot of saw dust. So I try to keep it clean so I can see all my accessories.

Are you referring to a shelf that mounted under the bench tubes for storing parts and supplies, or are you referring to a wall-mounted shelf for storing SPTs such as the band saw, belt sander, jointer etc? I'd be interested in seeing some ideas/photos of what folks have come up with for storing SPTs on a wall.

I had the accessory shelf on my 500 for about 15 years. I gave it to my dad when I sold him the 500 and upgraded to a 510.

I liked that the accessory shelf held most of the accessories that I needed. I added a slot to hold another saw blade.

I didn't like that I kept knocking my shins on it though. I initially missed it until I built a custom cabinet that takes up the space beneath my 510...

The custom cabinet holds a lot more stuff...and also offers a home for all or my spt's.

All I could find was this Shopsmith Accessory Shelf. It has some dimensions on it. At one time I had a PDF. but can't find it. I will keep looking for it.

I revised the plans to replace the doors on the backside with a fixed piece of pegboard. That gave me nice area to hang clamps, table inserts, and saw blades.
