Guess you have missed out on the previous green belt sales. I think I can remember two of them. I got a few belts on the first offer and have not yet worn out one of them. I think I've done enough sanding to have worn down two or three aluminum oxide (the reddish brown ones) belts.
Go for the sale, Dave! Even if you have to wait - when they come you'l be happy!

I could use a 80 grit one, so I think I'll pick it up at my local lowes.judaspre1982 wrote:I ordered 80 thru 120 grits.
Item says "may be on back order or made to order" so I wonder how long it will take to see them.
It has been a while since I ordered from SS.

Not in stock locally
My local Lowes does not carry the larger belts, but you can order thru their website for the same price as with SS plus shipping. My preference would be to buy thru SS, but if lead times are a concern it might be quicker to go thru Lowes. I have no experience either way, just was reading the thread and thought I'd check locally.
I really appreciate hearing from you guys what you experience with different products and what you recommend. As an amateur woodworking with a ver limited budget it is a tremendous help in my buying decisions. Thanks.

one additional thought
While looking at these products on the SS website, I found it interesting that no one has published a product review. I think it would help both Shopsmith and woodworkers if this product had a few reviews available that promoted it for its quality and longevity. Anyone wanna step up to the bar?

Well the store didn't have em, but the web site shows em. BUT when ya add to cart. It's ship only. So I'll wait till SS has em on sale and get it then.[/color]judaspre1982 wrote:Bob, does your local Lowes carry the SS 6x48 belts? Ours does not, and they even took away some of the lower grits in the 5" 8hole sanding discs.
I will have to check their latest inventory.
