I would just like to clear something out, I wanted to change both belt in my Shopsmith, there was some vibrations a certain RPM , anyway looking around it seem that Shopsmith belt was not good or even appropriate anymore. A seller on Ebay even state that Shopsmith belt is cheap and not the good width. Well I both bought it from Shopsmith and I'm very satisfied with the product they send me, good quality belt and the good width (around .530"). My machine now run smoother. I encourage Shopsmith owner no buy from them, If you want, like me, that they remain in business for the year to come.

Part of the difficulty with the SS belts is their non-standard size. The original v-belt was over 1/2" wide and 26 1/2" length. The poly-v belt is 14 1/2" long.

Typical belts today are less than 1/2" wide although they are described as such.

Belt lengths(both v and poly-v) today are not available in 1/2" increments(was a time when they were(damn bean counters!)).

Anyone know where to get a 145J13(Mark VII 14.5" 13 rib) poly-v?

What are the PP belts?(length,rib count - J type assumed).

AIUI the belts currently sold by SS are good. There was a brief time when the bean counters overrode the engineering dept. Bad! Bad!:(

I am skeptical of the E-bay seller(not the belts) since the bad-mouth tactic is being used. JMHO

I am curious, did you order your belts direct from Shopsmith and they shipped to you in NB, Canada, or did you go through the dealer in Toronto? (or some other way of receiving them?) I am in NS and wonder if Shopsmith will now ship to Canada.

I did order from All-in-one wood tools, in Ontario. Shopsmith wont ship to Canada I ask, and send them a email explaining them that we can not take advantage of there very complete web site, witch every part is listed etc... Maybe some day they will change there way of making business in Canada. Just be capable of ordering from there web site and having there weekly special would be nice.

I always thought All-in-one Wood Tools was like an authorized Shopsmith retailer. I guess it isn't. Looks kinda like a consignment store. I notice they do sell SPTs. The prices look not bad considering to what I often see on Ebay. But the used systems are a little pricey but they need to make "theirs" like the old man says all the time on Pawn Stars.

I think Canada might have some safety requirements that we don't have in the U.S. like the plastic protector that is fitted over the shafts & attached to the belt cover.

It's a shame our friends to the North are unable to help Shopsmith out and themselves as well. I would think NAFTA would make it possible for friends from the North or the South to buy products made here in the U.S.A.

They have a SawDust Session link- but it looks like it's not populated or maintained with any of the SawDust Sessions we enjoyed with Nick & Drew back in 2007/8.

They also have a Service Advisor list which lists procedures perhaps used by an authorized repair facility. Not much detail, but seems old:

I agree with you on the bad-mouth tactic used by many sellers. If they do that then don't trust them.

I have a Mk VII Poly-V belt as well as a lot of other Mk VII stuff. Want a list? PM me.

Shopsmith have a period of time when their motor belt was a standard 1/2" V-belt that was unsatifactory but they went out for a new supplier recently and back to their original standard size. Their Poly-V and Gilmer belts have always been excellant.

I have brought the replacement motor, Gilmer and Poly-V belt from the Ebay supplier with excellant results. I still recommend the Shopsmith belts but found the Ebay seller that has an extensive listing of Shopsmith items has quality products also. I brought my recent idler shafts from this supplier as he uses the original double bearing water pump shaft. I actually have tested quite a few Shopsmith products from this supplier with excellant results.
