Idler Shaft/Jointer Hub Uses?

Earlier I calculated the speed of the idler shaft to be 16,000 when the quill is on warp speed (10,000 RPM)(seeCommunity Lowe's Credit Card thread). I am wondering if this speed might be something to take advantage of in driving a high-speed flexible shaft or something of that nature? I think years ago, the jointer shaft was also used for a paint sprayer and a compressor. I'm just wondering. I see no need for a paint sprayer or a compressor. But I will tell you to be careful around a PowerPro headstock when you have it screaming at 10,000 RPM because the idler hub will rub skin off your knuckles- um, not that I know… it happened to a friend of mine…;)
I've put shaft protectors on both my PowerPros. It seems like it could be used for something. I'm just not sure what.
