Powermatic has stepped up to something like the new powerhead on the SS.

Would still rather have the SS anyday. While they boast of a 6 inch throw of this machine, I say, come on up to the real workhorse. I use mine often both for horizontal boring and drill press mode as I build quiet a few toys.

It appears to be worthy of being a Powermatic and cloaked in Powermatic colors but I'll keep my Mark V Shorty, thank you.

All I need is two LEDs to rid myself of shadows.

Don't forget the laser beams too so that all is centered correctly and you won't have to use your woodworking skills.

TEFC(Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) motor is not a DVR motor. I am guessing a reeves drive similar to the power station drive.(close cousin to the M5/V drive)

I have not had my hands(nor eyes) on one of these cross hair laser indicators, but am curious how the distance from 'projector' to workpiece(x hairs) is compensated for????

There are two adjustable laser lines projected on the stock.

And just how are they made to align with the bit entry location?

You adjust the two lines until they cross where the bit enters the wood. Instructions are in the manual.
