OK so I orderd the jointer feather board upgrade back in November, it's on backorder, OK small batch manufacturing, I get it, I got to wait, not happy, but I get it.

The have just taken money out of my account for the third time...THE THIRD TIME!!! Yes, they put it back but the issue with me is take it or don't. Don't be drawing money out if your not going to ship what you sold me.

Am I the only one this happens to? Or an I the only one upset about it?

'They' offer any explanation? That is contrary to what I understand their 'policy' is.

haven't contacted "them" yet... I did email SS a few weeks ago to see if there was an estimated time for the feather board to be shipped and I got a non answer "hope to hear something next week"
Again my issue isn't with the back order time...it's with taking money out of my account, even if it does it get refunded in a couple of days.

YES I will email/call SS monday to see what the issue is.

Your 'account' a credit card or a debit card?

I've been waiting on a bandsaw insert for the cast-iron table, going on nine months now. What looked like a charge to my credit card turned out to be simply a "temporary authorization". I called SS after a few weeks to see if my insert had been lost in delivery. Two bits of good news: 1) SS finally has a new vendor for the cast-iron table inserts, and 2) they didn't actually charge my card.

Apparently, SS "pings" the card for backordered items from time to time, to make sure that the payment method is still valid. My credit card was expired (and also renewed) in the interim, which caused temporary confusion until I talked with SS. The temporary authorizations reduce your available balance for a day or two, but then go away. Not a big deal in my case .. less than 15 bucks.

I can absolutely sympathize with a company that is trying hard to fulfill customer orders with limited cash, and subject to the delivery promises of 3rd-party vendors. Been/am there, doing that.

Assuming you discovered the charge online, did it show as a memo item or was money actually removed? The above comment is accurate and a normal occurrence for long standing orders. If it appears money has actually been taken you owe it to yourself to call Shopsmith's toll free number first thing Monday and ask for an update. The customer service folks will bend over backwards to answer your concern. Jim

I have the same part on order (3/25/12). When I last spoke to shopsmith in early Dec. they had yet to find a vendor, so this is good news.

I checked to see if anything had changed on my order status and nothing had, so it looks like the wait is not over.

I have not been charged for this item nor any other back ordered parts, which I believe is the proper way for things to go. If I noticed a charge on my card I would well expect the item had shipped or was about to be. Then I would check the order status and go from there.

Hey what's a 10 month wait between me and my partner shopsmith anyway??

It never hit my card statement as a charge. I noticed it as a "temporary authorization" when accessing my account online. Money was never removed. It did, however, reduce my "available balance" for a day or two, until the temporary authorization expired.

Don't rely on an email response from Shopsmith. The service is there but, IMO, is not very responsive. Make a telephone call to Customer Service.

In my case it's a pre paid debit card, the only use is for internet/phone orders. I've had issues in the past (NOT from Shop Smith) with my accounts getting touched, so I only keep in that account what I spend.

In this case it appears the money is taken out and put back in, this cycle seems to take three days. Maybe this is because it's a pre paid, it looks that way.

Sears has done similar when I order online and pick up at the store. But they charge a dollar, then the actual amount and then refund the dollar
