It was a very nice warm afternoon at charleses shop when shortslvs came to visit. I had planned to show the workings of a few SPTs and ways to store the parts. Shortslvs had not yet been able to run either of his Mark Vs because they were lacking power couplers and hubs.

The unbelievable part was - as he had brought me a Shopsmith scroll saw that he picked up in one of his purchases. A Scroll Saw? Really? This was, and still is, an almost unbelievable generous and extremely appreciated gift!!!!:D

I had thought about buying a Shopsmith scroll saw to replace the Dremel I had worn out, but was not convinced of such a purchase. It was just one of those things on a wish list that was not about to happen.

Oh yeah! It is an older model saw with a bit of rust on the saw blade chucks and other parts, but would run with some squeaking when attached to the PowerPro. WoW!!! what a gift!!! I just can't get over it!

Our shop visit went well and we had no pauses in nearly 3 hours of gabbing and machine running. I am sad that my lathe skew was not sharp enough to avoid some grabbing in an old piece of oak. Also the tool rest would not stay in position. As Shortslvs said, the post position in the carriage probably had some sawdust. He was absolutely correct!

Spent today cleaning the scroll saw and ordered an upgrade kit for easier blade installing.

I finally got to order the parts I need to get the 520 going and hopefully in a few days that baby will be up and running.

Oh and as my new friend you might want to ask Chuck about all the nice things he did for me - before - I gave him a scroll saw. hahaha

You may have noticed from some of my other posts that I am a minister. Us ministers apply the bible to other peoples lives all the time and our own lives here and there. hahaha

Chuck didn't instruct me in the word, he instructed me in Shopsmith - so I paid in Shopsmith. There were DVD's, Magazines, Power Couplers and several other things that came with that instruction he gave.

Ah, rules to friendship...of course, where are my manners. And we definately need to be BFF's as I need all the help I can get.
As far as SS go, I am only an owner now for about a year and a half and I see by your aquisitions, you have two of everything already which is making our friendship harder to secure...hmm. Two of everything..hmm, building an ark shortslvs?
An ark with a SS logo on it, 2 of everything safley aboard and dry, the ark built by a SS for SS tools. Sorry, but can you picture a little cartoon drawing here?
Actually I have 2 power couplings and you may certainly have 50% of those. Hopefully thats a start. If you're looking to aquire anything else from craigs list, please look in my area. I will call, survey and aquire for you anything I can help with. If you are ever in the area, I will in fact buy you 1 free pizza lunch with side salad. If you ever need advice, call me, I know alot of stuff. If you ever need help with anything, I will be glad to drive to Cal to help or simply ship 1 child to you which you can return at your discretion. I will think of some other ways where I can give before I recieve.

My wife is out of the shower now and church starts in 30 minutes. I need to go. I would assume you may not see this until later today, unless you are hiding your i-phone under the pulpit. If this is true, hopefully I didn't distract you too much.
Confession: I do sit in church and daydream about making a dado jointed cross or perhaps a big dovetail with olive wood and I want to redesign the round thingy with the grape juice and treats on it, so it's easier to hold and pass to the next person... Maybe lathing some handles.....hmm. I'll think more about it today.

Now I know why I enjoy this forum so much. The unconditional sharing is amazing to me & with members helping other members and those members passing it on or forward- just because.

Chuckese was just by my place with a replacement sheave assy, so now I am up and running, but he also bought a better hood for my DC, a spare double bearing quill, so I can upgrade my other headstock and a stronger motor than either of the headstocks have now. Oh and backup porkshop and speed control. I know I am leaving stuff out. He brought over so much.

I am ready to make some sawdust!
