how is it that you get the pictures to be visible in the post and not just a link? thanks

Take a look at the "sticky" thread just above your thread here in the Community Forum. It explaines the process of "Adding pictures to a Thread or Post."

When the "Reply to Thread" box is open, click on the icon that has mountains on it ("Insert Image" icon). When you do this, a dialog box will pop up and you paste the URL of the image in the box and hit enter. If you instead hit the icon with the globe and a little chain link ("Insert Link" icon), you will get a similar pop up box but when you paste your URL in, you'll only get a link to where the photo is. If you are unsure which icons I am referring to, hover your mouse arrow over each icon for a few seconds and a little text box will appear telling you what it is.

Unfortunately, when using android on my tablet, which is how I participate on the forums 99.99% of the time the paperclip to insert an image has a red x over it.

Therefore, I use Flickr which is a free enline photo hosting place.

Its generally very easy to use.
