Now this looks pretty darn handy! I'm assuming this is a brand new item? Anybody happen to have one of these? Price seems pretty decent too.

I have the now inferior version they use to sell.

It looks pretty much the same and does pretty much the same thing but since this is the "The Most Fully-Featured, Best-Working Model We've Ever Offered" I guess I will have to toss mine in the trash and get the new model....

I hate when that happens.

Through a very nice member of this forum, I just successfully bought the adjustable collar. I wish those specials were offered to us in CANADA directly, I would have added this new drill press vise.
Ah well ... maybe next time.

I'm thinking one or maybe even two are in my future. I've been looking for something like this for a while, I just didn't know what I was looking for, though.

So how strong /sturdy /durable is your old inferior model?

I'm just taking shopsmith word for it. I've had it for years and I've never had a problem with mine.

Here is the catalog page of the old version.

I've have one nearly identical to this, although I didn't get it from SS (although I've used it on my SS). I've had it for years and years. Can't remember where I got it or what I paid for it. While I don't use it often, it's pretty handy for some applications and I've never regretted having it in the shop.

About the only difference I see is that the new handle folds down. I'm still saving for the Powerpro upgrade. I'll keep my old vise.

I have one similar to the one described in the reible post above. I hardly ever use it because it hardly ever works for me. :(:(
